Issue: What is GTemp Account?
Description:
Nowadays companies are moving to Cloud, the Google cloud, MS cloud etc. So whenever a company moves to Cloud basically they migrate all their users’ mailbox to a cloud so that they can work from anywhere.
If a company wants to move their data to cloud then, they create an email address for all users on Google cloud and some of their employees already have registered for some services on google for personal use with an official email address. And as per the policies, the email address cannot be duplicated. hence, here comes the concept of Gtemp account.
Like if a user user@tech4cloud.com Registered for any Google service for personal use in past and now Tech4Cloud moving to Google cloud then user user@tech4cloud.com cannot create again with the same name. When the user tried to login with “user@tech4cloud.com” google check and changes the old personal profile with “user%tech4cloud.com@gtempaccount.com” and this is called a Gtemp account:
Resolution:
If the user knows which Google service might have been signed up for some time in the past with “user@tech4cloud” and thus creating the conflicting account, they need to decide if they need to continue to access the old data on the old personal account.
1. If Yes, then the user will need to resolve by renaming the old account to either a newly created Gmail address, or to an existing non-Google email address. Start with accounts.google.com, use “user@tech4cloud.com” as the email address and select Individual Google Account and the normal password.
These steps are outlined in a YouTube article Below:
2. If No, the old personal account is not needed, then the user can go to
https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery and enter “user%tech4cloud.com@gtempaccount.com”
Either enter a password that might have been used in the past or use the ‘Try another way’ option repeatedly to find other ways to verify the ownership of the gtemp account such as: Get verification code, When did you create this Google Account, Enter an email you can check now.
If access is recovered, the account can then be deleted by going to https://myaccount.google.com/deleteaccount
